Lift Up a New You For many people around the world this year has been filled with turmoil. It’s hard to say thank you for those challenges, but if gratitude truly is the grease for a happier life, then we must learn to. Thank you to all of you who demonstrated love and showed us how to be compassionate with others who are migrating, healing, and rebuilding. Earth is not an easy sandbox to play in, but it serves its purpose to test the holy hell out of us and see if we can still love despite what it throws our way.   The New Year is a time for change.  We get to turn the page, open a new calendar and start fresh. So why not lift up and bring into the light of day your greatness, your courage, your ability to say yes to whatever life gives you. Then when you are having a tough time, love yourself AND love those around you, no matter what kind of idiocy they sometimes demonstrate ;-0 Lift Up CreativeGeniusYOU in 2016.  Draw a pictureof your best year ever and step into it.  See how far and wide you can swing open the door of your heart, reach out with your talents, bring your true self into the light of day. This world needs each and every one of us. We can’t afford for you to wait until it feels safer to make that change, to shift your thinking, your career, your focus, your service to the world.    This past year I received dozens of emails and social media notes from people around the world who had drawn their future and were lifting themselves up to step more fully into their greatness. The Amazingness of You - New Year, New You!

2014 is turning over to 2015! Yay! You are amazing. You and all you did this year.  All the miles you drove or flew. All the diapers you changed. All the words you wrote. All the views you saw. All the friends you met. All the photos you took. All the people you worked with. All the things, the stuff, the food, the warmth, the beauty. You are amazing. Why? Just because! You are alive.You are loved. You are here.Thank you. At 4:30AM I remembered how awesome it is to be alive. Remember? What's the alternative? ___________ Right - fill in the blank! Today is a perfect day to reflect on 2014 and get ready to start something new. It doesn't have to be a big reflection. We get confused by the idea of making "big change". Little change adds up over time and becomes big. But only if you notice. Take a moment to reflect - get a piece of paper and a pen and draw a few little pictures for that life you had in 2014. What did you think you'd do this year? And what really happened? Without judgment, just reflect. Jot a few things down...maybe you wanted to start getting out more. Or be nicer to your neighbors. Maybe you wanted to walk to work, or get a bike. Maybe you wanted to volunteer. Or "unplug".  Or get connected. Write it down. The things you thought you'd do. Now take a look at what you DID do.  What you learned, who you became, all the things you accomplished, places you went, people you met! Stay focused on what you did, versus what you didn't do. (intercept the critic and toss him out!) Staying focused on the things you accomplished, reminds you that everything you did this year, in some way, added up.  All of these things in some way, were the right things to do. ;-) Why? Because they happened.    Now ask, what were the 3 bold things you did that helped you get here? Write them down. Maybe one was "I kept at it,"  "I asked for help," or "I believed." These things you did made a difference and helped to form who you are right now. And no matter how much the critic wants you to do more, be more, buy more - remember... You are awesome. Maybe it wasn't the easiest, healthiest, most abundant year you've ever had. Still...you are here right now. That is something to celebrate at this year's end. Thank you. Thank you for all you brought to the world. And for those of you who brought me into your worldthis year, you changed me - for the better! Thank you. NOW, get ready for the best year of your life! 2015! You know what I'm going to suggest next, don't you? It's time to draw your dreams into reality!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!   New Website! BRING YOUR 500% TO THE NEW YEAR When my partner Julie and I were first together, we lived in Denver and she was between jobs. She had been job hunting for awhile and was feeling disparaging about herself and her ability to ever get one. In my mind, she was (and is) a truly fantastic leadership and talent development expert, so I couldn't go down that slippery slope with her.  I was leaving on a business trip to work in Slovakia, but before I left I said to her, "I see you as 500% more than what you can see in yourself right now. If you could see yourself from that 500% bigger person that you really are, why not look for a job from that perspective?" The second night in Slovakia, my cell phone rang.  It was Julie, she was over the top with excitement, "You said 500%, right?" Cool! I responded, "Where did you get a job?"  "Seattle!" she shouted.  I thought, Seattle?  Now how did your 500% suddenly become my 500%?! That job brought us to this great city. Here we have had one adventure after another. We've worked with amazing companies, met new friends, expanded our abilities to serve and be served by life. Her 500% took me to my 500% as well and I can't thank her enough! WHY NOT BRING YOUR 500% TO 2013? Ask yourself, if I were being 500% of the person I see myself to be, what would I be doing right now?  Then, get going.  Take a moment to draw a simple picture of that new you.  If you have forgotten the power of the visual, review my 8 minute TEDx talk.  Then take a few small bites of that elephant to get yourself started living that "500% you", today. NEW YEAR, NEW YOU Make This Year Count Every turn of the year offers an opportunity to bring your best self to life.  It's a chance to set goals from the highest place, from the part of you that sees beyond what you make or have to the deeper reason for why you are here in the world right now.  Why you?  Why now?  Simon Sinek, in his book, Start With Why,writes,"It all starts with clarity. You have to know WHY you do WHAT you do. If people don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it, so it follows that if you don’t know WHY you do WHAT you do, how will anyone else?"  While Simon is writing about your business, your products or services, in this new year why not ask that of yourself?  Why am I here?  Why me, why now? This is a time of unprecedented opportunity and people around the world are shifting their focus to align what they do to something that matters, something that fulfills their passion, their purpose.  I recently read that there are so many non profits in existence that it would take you 3 days to simply scroll through their names on the internet.  Our young people are playing a major part in this sea change to embrace all of life and consider some of the inequities or imbalances part of our responsibility. Why you?  Why now?  You are here on the planet at this time for a reason.  It's a new year, so as you begin to thing about how you want to step into 2013, try this: Close your eyes, block out the outside stimuli and get quiet.  Ask yourself, "What is my purpose right now and why am I here?  Why me? Why now?  What can I do this year to bring all of who I am to life?" Listen, then write down the first things that come to you.  Draw a simple icon to help you solidify it into memory. In his recent best selling book, Proof of Heaven, Eben Alexander III, MD, neurosurgeon, writes of his powerful near death experience.  He shares that soul, or our innate nature, knows far faster than our brain does what our next choice should be.  Trust that part of you to guide you into this New Year, New You.
